We are a support group for people diagnosed with or recovering from oesophageal and gastric cancers. We also campaign for a better awareness for the signs and symptoms of the disease.
We are sorry for the prolonged absence but due to the current situation it was not possible to regularly update this website.
One of the principle difficulties... ... is that GUTSY involves patients from both England and Wales, and the guidelines and information differ from Health authority and country to country. In addition, patients in the West Cheshire area of England are now referred mainly to the surgical oesophageal and gastric cancer centres in the Liverpool area.
SO........ for the time being this website will provide information mainly for the North Wales area and centred on the surgical unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Principle sources include the N Wales Cancer patient forum, the N Wales branch of Macmillan and the Betsi Cadwalader Health Board. Please see the info page for a detailed list of useful websites and contacts.
Dr Caroline Usborne, Clinical Director for cancer services in North Wales has sent an open letter to the N Wales Cancer Patient Forum. It gives an outline of how the cancer services are responding to Covid-19.
